Maisto International Inc. is a global line of toy cars, airplanes and motorcycles brand that is part of the May Cheong Group. Although the brand is now based in California, its origins and main company today are in Hong Kong. Maisto primarily manufactures diecast models. The company has also manufactured a number of Tonka products under license from Hasbro. Now also owns the old Italian brands Burago Maisto creates 1:12, 1:18, 1:24, 1:25, 1:27, 1:43 and 1:64 scale models. The models are based on vehicles that are popular today. Maisto 1:64 scale diecast models are aimed at the lower end of the market and do not offer the same level of detail as other diecast model manufacturers such as Hot Wheels and Johnny Lightning. However, Maisto is quite popular in the market due to the excellent value for money that its products offer and because Maisto makes models of several popular cars.
Maisto also has a line of scale model cars called Playerz which are scale models of custom cars and feature custom wheels, a custom paint job, lowered suspension, and upgraded car entertainment systems. Another line called Pro Rodz uses the same features, except the models consist of classic American muscle cars.
